Course Description: This year-long class provides a great introduction to the many facets of Earth Science. The scope of this course covers: the solar system, seasons, moon phases, calendars, navigation, map projections, stewardship of the earth and its resources, crystals, minerals, rock types and the rock cycle, continental drift, plate tectonics, volcanoes, earthquakes, soil types, hydrologic cycle, landforms, glaciers, fossils, geologic time and dating systems, the carbon cycle, weather, climate, pollution and much more. This is a comprehensive full science course for the year.

We will be exploring these topics in a fun and interactive way. The students will participate in labs and projects each week to reinforce their learning. This course will include take-home tests, class handouts, and supplemental lab and project materials not included in the text. All lab supplies, project materials, and a customized lab notebook are included in the materials fee. However, please purchase the required textbook: Novare: Earth Science: God's World, Our Home (ISBN# 978-0986352911); DO NOT purchase the resource kit CD.

Cost of Class (per semester): $350 (This fee includes lab materials and student books). Upon registration, a $50 non-refundable deposit will be due, which is applied to the cost of the course.

Bio: Tiffany Haugland completed her education at the University of California Irvine with a BS in Biological Science and continued her education at UCI’s Department of Education. Since 1999, she has been a homeschool mother and has taught courses for various private school programs, learning centers, and co-op groups. Over the last 24 years Tiffany has taught thousands of homeschool students and she finds great joy in working hand in hand with parents to develop the best fit for their students. The greatest goal is to inspire students to love learning, because it opens their eyes to the design and awe of God’s creation. Tiffany is a mother to 7 children ranging in ages 7-27, grandmother to 1 granddaughter.
