Fiber Arts and Textiles- Extended Projects Grades: 8-12th grade Course Description: Welcome to Fiber Arts and Textiles- Extended Projects! This class will introduce students to the wonderful world of textiles using various mediums. First semester, we’ll explore a variety of hand sewing and weaving techniques with different materials, macrame, paper art and hand crocheting. The second semester will focus on a large-scale cross stitching project, hand dyeing fibers for macrame, and paper arts (painting, weaving, embroidery). This class is designed for individuals of all skill levels, whether you’re a beginner or have some experience with fibers. There is no pre-requisite to this class. My Intro to Fiber Arts class explores a wide-variety of fiber arts while creating a substantial amount of smaller projects. The Fiber Arts- Extended Projects class will allow more time to focus on a few key styles of fiber arts, learning how to prepare for and then create more detailed projects that span many class sessions. By the end of the year, the students will have completed 15+ projects covered by the materials fees. So come ready to learn, create, and have fun with art! (This class has projects geared toward girls but boys are welcome to join us.) A $60 non-refundable deposit will be due by June 1, 2024 and will be applied toward the materials fees. This will cover the first semester materials fee as I need to pre-purchase all supplies before school starts. (Second semester will have a separate materials fee due.) As a working artist, Cami owned and operated her own accessories company, millaTuelle, for 8 years and was a personal stylist for many years at an international company. She has had a variety of freelance jobs in photography, drawing, and painting including illustrating a children’s book that celebrated the 500-year Anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. Growing up in a musical family, Cami started singing in church as a young child and has had multiple opportunities to perform and record with other Christian artists. She has always felt that God gave her a voice and love for singing to worship Him and Him alone and uses her gifts to lead worship at her church regularly. Cami and her husband Gus have two children, AJ (16) and Zoey (13), and their Goldendoodle Cocoa (2). They started the adventure of homeschooling in 2020 and they are excited to be a part of the Pacific Cross Preparatory community.
