Fun Facts Songs and Memorization Grades: K-2 Course Description: The early elementary years are the perfect time for students to start memorizing concepts and facts that they will need to know for years to come! In this class, we do this through songs! Each week a new song will be introduced and practiced, while old songs are reviewed. We will also work through the first half of the New City catechism for kids (See newcitycatechism.com). Alongside our songs, we will play games, engage in hand-on activities, and discuss what we are learning. Each class time will end reviewing songs, doing quiet activities, and eating a fun snack. This is a class your child will be sure to look forward to! Homework will simply be listening to the class play list (on Spotify or YouTube). Note: There is very little overlap between the younger fun facts class (K-2nd) and the older fun facts class (3rd-6th)—so that your child can benefit from taking both. Below are examples of facts/concepts we will memorize: Math Skip counting 2-5, 10 How to spell numbers Counting coins Identifying shapes Place value Telling time Measurement Lines and angles Bible New City Catechism 1-26 Days of creation 12 disciples 40 main events of Scripture Fruits of the Spirit Books of the Bible Social Studies 50 states Continents Oceans 13 original colonies World landmarks The preamble English Spelling colors Sentence rules Verbs Nouns Adjectives Synonyms and Antonyms Counting Syllables Science Water cycle Parts of a plant Planets Photosynthesis Seasons The moon cycle Miscellaneous Greetings in other languages Days of the week Months of the year Cost Per Semester: $260 Textbook, workbooks, or materials needed for class: No textbooks, all printed materials will be provided.
