NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY Grades: 7-9 Course Description: An introduction to the books of the New Testament. Students will engage with Scripture to understand the general historical background, authorship, and main themes of each New Testament Book. The goal of this class is to foster a deeper love for the word of God and prepare students for further study in the New Testament. This year in class we will study the main themes of each New Testament book. Students will have the chance to learn basic background information for each book, as well as main themes each Biblical author intended to communicate. The goal of this class is to help students appreciate the value of understanding historical background for proper Biblical interpretation, to become more familiar with major theological themes in the New Testament, and develop a deeper love for studying the Word of God in a practical way that will aid them as they grow in expositional study. Class time will include interactive discussion, note taking, and worksheets. Students will have the chance to complete a “survey project” on a New Testament book of their choice. This will allow them to take a deeper dive into an area of interest covered in class, and share what they have learned with their classmates. Binders with class notes and schedule will be given in class. Cost Per Semester: $240 Textbook, workbooks, or materials needed for class: ESV Single Column Journaling Bible.
