Description

FAITH IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: OT SURVEY THROUGH HEBREWS 11

Grades: 8-10

Course Description: An introduction to the chronology and major theological themes of the Old Testament as presented in Hebrews 11.  Students will engage with Scripture to understand the general historical background, character studies, genres of Old Testament writings, basic Old Testament chronology, and theological themes that run through both Old and New Testaments.  The goal of this class is to foster a deeper love for the word of God and prepare students for further study in the Old Testament.

This year in class we will study the history of the Old Testament in chronological order as presented by the author of Hebrews. The goals of this class are to help students understand historical background and chronology for proper Biblical interpretation, to become more familiar with major people and theological themes in the Old Testament, and to be able to articulate the meaning and importance of Biblical faith as presented and exemplified in the Old Testament.

Class time will include interactive discussion, note taking, and worksheets to be completed for homework.  All homework will be transferred into the margins of the ESV Journaling Bible.
