US History
Grade: 4th - 6th Grade
Welcome to U.S. History: Exploration through the Birth of a Nation. I look forward to fostering a love for history this year! America’s story is about people who struggled, bled, cried, laughed, danced, sang, prayed, and dreamed of a brighter future. Some are famous, but most are not. The seasick woman aboard the Mayflower, the child separated from his parents forever at the slave auction, the Native Americans who showed Europeans how to plant corn, and the men who dumped tea into a dark Boston Harbor on a cold December night. Students will learn through hands-on activities like escape rooms and log cabin building. The history of our country is remarkable and I can't wait to share it with your students!
Students are required to do one Passion Project at the end of the 2nd semester. This is where the beauty of homeschooling should be felt. The project will
culminate in a few peer teaching days – which are always a huge hit! The students will prepare a 3-minute presentation and hone in on their public speaking skills. More info to come during the second semester!
