Title of Class: Digital Photography & iPhonography
Grades: 8-12
Course Description:
This hands-on digital photography course is both creative and practical, equipping students with the skills to capture striking images and tell compelling visual stories. Covering camera operation, composition, lighting, and post-processing, students will explore different photography styles, including portraiture, landscape, and documentary.
Beyond technical skills, this course is about seeing the world differently—finding unique perspectives, experimenting with creative techniques, and developing a personal style. Whether using a DSLR or a smartphone camera (such as an iPhone), students will gain a strong foundation in digital photography and image editing. With hands-on lessons, creative assignments, and constructive feedback, they’ll build confidence behind the camera and in their creative vision. Whether aiming to improve social media content, build a portfolio, or explore photography as a potential career, students will leave with the tools to create impactful images.

About the Instructor:
Gabe Sullivan is a professional photographer, Creative Director, and former Senior Writer/Photographer for Surfer Magazine, where he spent two decades capturing stories through imagery. His work has been featured globally and exhibited locally at the Sawdust Art Festival and Festival of the Arts. He has collaborated with brands like National Geographic Adventure and Levi’s, blending technical expertise with creative storytelling. A longtime Laguna Beach resident, Gabe enjoys life with his family and is a proud PC Prep parent.
