Class Title: Earth Science
Grades: 6 th – 7 th
Course Description: This year-long class provides a great introduction to the many facets of Earth
Science. The scope of this course covers: the solar system, seasons, moon phases, calendars,
navigation, map projections, stewardship of the earth and its resources, crystals, minerals, rock types
and the rock cycle, continental drift, plate tectonics, volcanoes, earthquakes, soil types, hydrologic
cycle, landforms, glaciers, fossils, geologic time and dating systems, the carbon cycle, weather,
climate, pollution and much more. This is a comprehensive full science course for the year.
We will be exploring these topics in a fun and interactive way. The students will participate in labs and
projects each week to reinforce their learning. This course will include take-home tests, class
handouts, and supplemental lab and project materials not included in the text. All lab supplies, project
materials, and a customized lab notebook are included in the materials fee.
Textbook/Materials needed: I have selected 4 volumes from the “Wonders of Creation” series
published by Master Books. Please purchase the following texts. Each text is approximately $13-15
and can be purchased through Amazon, Rainbow Resource, Christianbook.com, or
Masterbooks.com.
We will use one of these texts per quarter in the following order:
First semester:
The Geology Book (ISBN #9780-89051-2814) & The Mineral Book (ISBN #9780-89051-8021)
Second Semester:
The New Weather Book (ISBN #9780-89051-8618) & The New Ocean Book (ISBN #9780-89051-
9059)
Class Max: 18 students
Cost of Class (per semester): $380 ($310 class fee + $70 materials fee) per semester. This fee
includes all lab or project materials and student notebook.
A $100 non-refundable deposit will be due by June 1, which is applied to first semester. I offer
multiple payment plans for the balance: lump sum payment for the balance of $280 at the start of the
semester, split into 2 installments of $140 each, as well as 4 monthly payments of $70.

Bio: Tiffany Haugland completed her education at the University of California Irvine with a BS in Biological Science and continued her education at UCI’s Department of Education. Since 1999, she has been a homeschool mother and has taught courses for various private school programs, learning centers, and co-op groups. Over the last 25 years Tiffany has taught thousands of homeschool students and she finds great joy in working hand in hand with parents to develop the best fit for their students. The greatest goal is to inspire students to love learning, because it opens their eyes to the design and awe of God’s creation. Tiffany is a mother to 7 children ranging in ages 8-28, grandmother to 2 granddaughters.
