Course Description: 

In this course, students will be challenged to not only read and analyze great works of literature, but see literature as a source to enrich and enhance their own writing.     We will be diving into a wide range of novels in various genres such as historical fiction, nonfiction, short stories, allegories, and poetry and taking time each week to engage in deep analytical discussion about themes, author inferences, writing style, and literary elements of the texts.  

Students will be doing a wide range of writing, including narrative, expository, argumentative, poetry, and some additional projects throughout the year.

Novels: The Cay, Fever 1793, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, Pilgrim’s Progress, The Pearl and others TBD.

Cost Per Semester: $300

Textbook, workbooks, or materials needed for class:  Assigned novels, 1 inch 3 ring binder or portion of a larger binder for handouts, Pen, Pencils, Lined paper.

Bio: 

Ashley received her Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in literature from Florida State University in 2000. She is a homeschool teacher to her two younger boys and often teaches in women’s ministry at her church. She is so grateful for the community of parents and students at PC Prep who share her passion for learning and growing in wisdom.
