Title of Class: Grammar and Phonics Workshop

Course Description:
Children will learn basic grammar skills (nouns, verbs, punctuation, capitalization, etc.) while doing
hands on activities. We will also work on phonics using Zoo Phonics, handwriting skills (proper grip,
letter formation, cursive, etc.) with a focus on spelling. This class is designed to lay a good foundation for
IEW and to prepare your child to become a confident writer.
I will be using Well Trained Mind’s “First Language Lessons: Level 1” as our textbook. In each class, we
will do a narration/read aloud, copywork, and a fun activity.

Cost Per Semester: $230 (plus $25 for materials)

Materials: Notebooks will be provided, no textbook needed

Bio: Ever since she was a little girl, Esther knew she wanted to be a teacher. She grew up in Queens, New
York and went through the public school system, got her undergraduate degree in Social Sciences and
went on to get her MA in Elementary Education. She has many years of experience teaching in the
classroom setting, teaching Special Education, tutoring, and serving at church. Homeschooling her 3 kids,
teaching at various co-op groups, and serving in kids’ ministry has trained her to do the very thing she
loves. When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys gardening, visiting museums, reading old books, and
drinking good coffee. Esther is grateful be in the PC Prep community and excited to serve God through
one of her biggest passions.
