Title of Class: IEW People and Places in Our Community

Course Description:
In this class, students will read about community workers and helpful places. They will learn how to
confidently and creatively write essays using the Structure and Style method. We will read aloud a classic
book that goes along with the topic.
Children will practice retelling stories, learn how to write a key word outline, and master using various
“dress ups” to fancy up their writing. Using engaging hands on activities and games, students will practice
grammar, spelling, vocabulary words and literary elements.

Bio: Ever since she was a little girl, Esther knew she wanted to be a teacher. She grew up in Queens, New
York and went through the public school system, got her undergraduate degree in Social Sciences and
went on to get her MA in Elementary Education. She has many years of experience teaching in the
classroom setting, teaching Special Education, tutoring, and serving at church. Homeschooling her 3 kids,
teaching at various co-op groups, and serving in kids’ ministry has trained her to do the very thing she
loves. When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys gardening, visiting museums, reading old books, and
drinking good coffee. Esther is grateful be in the PC Prep community and excited to serve God through
one of her biggest passions.
