Class Title: Life Science
Grades:7th – 8th
Course Description: This year-long course provides a great introduction to the vast fields of Biology and Human Anatomy. The scope of this course covers the characteristics of life, the chemistry of life, cell membranes, cell organelles, DNA, cell reproduction, genetics and heredity, creation worldview, flaws of evolutionary theory, scientific classification, all the kingdoms of living organisms, human anatomy and physiology, and nutrition.
We will be exploring these topics in a fun and interactive way. The students will participate in labs, dissections, and projects each week to reinforce their learning. Students will be instructed in how to take notes during class by filling out class discussion outlines. These outlines will then serve as their study guides for future chapter tests. This course will include take-home tests, class handouts, and supplemental lab materials not included in the text. All lab supplies, dissection materials, and a customized lab notebook are included in the materials fee.
Textbook/Materials needed: Please purchase the required textbook: Science Shepherd Life Science 2nd edition (elephant cover): (ISBN# 978-1733412032). DO NOT purchase the parent companion or test booklet since I have written a customized lab book and all quizzes for this course. If you have a copy of the 1st edition of the textbook (leaf cover) from a sibling or friend that is acceptable as well.
