Math 6
Grades: 6th grade
Course Description:
This course is designed to help 6th-grade students build a strong foundation in math, covering a variety of important topics throughout the year.
In Semester 1, students will start by learning about whole numbers and how to work with them, followed by exploring how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers (positive and negative numbers). They will also dive into rational numbers (fractions and decimals) and practice simplifying expressions using different math properties.
In Semester 2, the focus will shift to solving equations and inequalities, helping students
understand how to find the value of unknowns. They will also learn about ratios, proportions, and percentages, and how to use these concepts in real-life situations. Students will explore measurement and geometry, including shapes and their properties. Finally, they’ll work with data and statistics to learn how to collect, organize, and interpret information.
By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of basic math concepts and be ready to tackle more challenging topics in the future.
