Airplane and Rocket Building/Flying

Grades: 4th-12th

Students will build a rocket from a kit, and launch their rockets on a Saturday field trip.  After that students will build a radio control plane from foam board and parts as a class, including folding the parts into place, hot melt glueing parts together, installing servos for flight controls, installing the Electronic Speed Controllet, electric motor and propeller, receiver, painting the plane, and flying it!  This is a large plane with a 3’ wingspan and fuselage, and a high performance plane that students will fly multiple times.  It will take the entire school year to finish building the plane.

Cost: $395/student plus materials costs: $35 for the rocket kit & motors and possibly $50 for the plane kit, depending on the class size.

Coach Nash has been teaching classes to home schooled students for over 20 years.  He spent 9 years as an officer in the Marine Corps, flying F-18s and running airfields.  He was trained in rifle and pistol marksmanship in the Marine Corps.  He also teaches PE, pickleball, woodworking, aviation science, social dancing, and water sports (waterskiing, wakeboarding, etc).
