Faith & Reason Grades: 6th – 8th Cost Per Semester: $250 Course Description: Faith & Reason is an interactive middle school course designed to help students build a confident, biblically grounded worldview. In a culture full of competing voices and shifting definitions, students will learn how to examine ideas carefully, identify assumptions, and evaluate claims through Scripture. Using a structured “Case File Method” of investigation, students will practice identifying bias, examining explicit and implicit biblical teaching, viewing issues through the gospel lens, and responding thoughtfully to common objections. The course include such topics as: authority and truth discernment social media influence identity cultural pressures introductory apologetics This course draws from the worldview framework in Wretched Worldview (Todd Friel, Fortis Institute) and discernment training in Thou Shalt Judge (Todd Friel & Justin Peters). Scripture serves as the primary text. Supplemental excerpts from authors such as C.S. Lewis and Greg Koukl may be used as the year develops. There is no prerequisite for this course. Classes are discussion-driven and case-based. Homework is light (~15–20 min weekly when assigned) and focuses on reinforcing investigative skills. By the end of the year, students will have a clear framework for analyzing ideas and building biblical conviction.
