Description

Class Title:
Foundations of Drawing

Grades:

7th-12th Grade

Course Description:
Welcome to Foundations of Drawing!

This course helps students build a strong foundation in representational drawing, including shading, rendering, perspective, observational skills, and thoughtful composition. Alongside these technical foundations, students will be encouraged to creatively develop their own artistic ideas and interests, broadening their visual language along the way.

Units in this course include learning how to draw the human figure, placing objects in perspective, and studying historical art movements. We’ll look to the art masters of the past—and present—to learn from their techniques, approaches, and visual storytelling.

Students will primarily work with graphite pencil in their personal sketchbooks. Occasionally, we will also use colored pencils, oil pastels, and pen and ink.

This class is designed for artists of all skill levels, especially those who have an interest in art and a desire to grow their skills. Come ready to draw, make art, learn from mistakes, and have fun in the process!

(There is no prerequisite for this class. There will be repeated content from last year.)

Drawing Kit with Pack of Artists Pencils, Kneaded Eraser, Hand Sharpener
