High School Biology (Goodrich) (9th-12th)

Title of Class: High School Biology

Grades: 9-12

Course Description: 

This is a one-year lab-based course that focuses on living organisms and their physiological makeup, as well as the ecosystems in which they live. Students will participate in hands-on experiments as well as learn in-depth material about the amazing world God created. The hands-on experiments will include dissections, using microscopes, growing bacteria and many more exciting activities.

This course includes the following topics: Introduction to Biology, Chemistry of Life, Cells, Cellular Respiration, Photosynthesis, Cell Division, DNA and RNA, Genetics, Biotechnology, Evolution and Intelligent Design, Microbiology, Invertebrates, Vertebrates, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Plants, Environmental Science and Ecosystems.

Students are expected to read the textbook, answer homework questions, memorize vocabulary, participate in labs, write up lab reports, complete quizzes and tests, and do one project per semester. There will be extra credit opportunities.

Cost Per Semester: $500 plus a one-time $70 lab fee (for the year)

Bio: Christin Goodrich holds a B.S. in Biology from UCLA, a Master of Education from Concordia University Irvine, and a California teaching credential specializing in science. She has taught biology and integrated science in numerous educational settings, including Dana Hills High School, Durham High School for Girls (UK), Moody Bible Institute, and California Connections Academy. Christin is wife to John and mother to Justin (15) and Kenny (10). She loves using science to showcase God’s majesty and creativity, and is committed to teaching young people how to defend their faith using science and Scripture. Christin is a member of Compass Bible Church and is excited to teach and get to know your student at PC Prep.
