Class Title: IEW All Things Fun and Fascinating 

Grades: 3-5 (6th ok)

Course Description: Humorous characters, cunning creatures, and meritorious men of history will captivate students as they learn to write with structure and style.

IEW's unique approach provides the structure that students need to develop confidence in the writing process, while gradually guiding them toward greater independence and creativity.

Students will take notes, summarize narrative stories, write from pictures, write non-fiction as well as creative essays, play games, learn vocabulary, and more. 

I recommend that students take IEW for 3 years to fully internalize the process and become proficient. This class will be appropriate for brand new IEW students as well as those continuing their IEW journey with me. 

I rotate through three different IEW books so that the source material is new and interesting each year.

Materials: The student book All Things Fun and Fascinating will be provided by the teacher (at cost) on the first day of class.

Bio: After earning my BA from UCLA and Teaching Credential from UCI, I taught elementary school for 12 years and then went on to teach teachers.  I believe that the best teaching and learning experiences are experiential and hands-on. When the kids are “doing” they are happier and more successful.  

After I homeschooled my own son, I found that my heart was with the homeschooling community and that’s where I wanted to teach. I am proud to be one of the original teachers at PC Prep. I love being part of this thriving community and sharing my passion for teaching with each and every student and family in my care.  

My son is grown now and attending college so I have a bit more free time. I spend it hiking, gardening, reading, and whenever we can, exploring and travelling with my husband.
