Description

Class Title: Social Graces

Grades: K-3

Course Description: Social Graces: Building Character Through Everyday Manners

Social Graces is a faith-based etiquette and character class that helps children grow in kindness, confidence, and consideration for others through practical, real-life skills.  Students learn that manners are more than rules. They are ways we show love, respect, and gratitude to the people around us. Through games, role-playing, read-aloud books, crafts, and hands-on practice, children learn conversation skills, table manners, friendship, teamwork, gratitude, and respectful behavior at home, in public, and with peers.  Topics throughout the year include greeting others politely, making and keeping friends, good sportsmanship, dining etiquette, giving and receiving compliments, apologizing and forgiving, holiday and party manners, kindness in action, and much more.

Bio:

I believe learning works best when it’s flexible, engaging, full of discovery, and built around the needs of real families. I’ve been married for 34 years to my 8th grade heartthrob, and together we’ve raised two wonderful children. My professional experience includes teaching in private schools, serving in administration, and developing curriculum and teacher training programs. I’ve also worked as an Educational Coach and Homeschool Teacher through a charter school, supporting families as they navigate their own homeschool paths. These days, I stay actively involved by helping guide the homeschooling of my 7 grandkids and by launching a preschool co-op that encourages early learning through play and community. I value the freedom homeschooling offers to integrate literature, hands-on projects, faith, and everyday life into a meaningful and personal educational journey.
